Open letter from the FAMILY PARTY to TV3 & TVNZ
26 September 2008

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am disappointed to hear that Mr Key and Ms Clark are not willing to front up to the leaders debates. These debates are a long-standing feature of the election campaign, and we would not wish to see this important aspect of the campaign compromised.

To help bolster the numbers in the debates and ensure a lively discussion, I would be very pleased to attend in their place.

The Family Party has a workable MMP strategy that involves targeting winnable seats in Mangere, Manukau East and East Coast Bays. We are currently the highest polling party outside parliament (based on a three-month average of the Colmar Brunton poll), so we are a relevant party to include in your debates.

Our goal is to reinstate traditional family values and to put families first, so our message is also entirely relevant.

To that end, I would be very happy to participate in the true spirit of democracy, and fill the vacant seat(s).

Yours sincerely,

Richard Lewis
Leader, The Family Party
