Monday 11 August 2008

Review of Prerogative Writs

“The Law Commission has published its Issues Paper on ‘Review of Prerogative Writs”, the President of the Law Commission Sir Geoffrey Palmer said today.

“Administrative law is an important part of the public law framework of checks and balances concerning the use of public power.”

“This Paper proposes no changes in relation to matters of substantive law.”

“It is concerned only with procedure and technical issues. The aim is to make things simpler.”

“We expect practitioners in the administrative law area to take an interest in this project and we would be interested to hear their views.”

“Options for procedural reform are set out in the paper.”

“We look forward to receiving the submissions by 30 September 2008.”
