ALCP puts call out for electorate candidates

Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party

ALCP puts call out for electorate candidates

The ALCP is inviting fellow Kiwis to consider being a list and/or electorate candidate in this election, and show some solidarity with other Kiwis who believe this law must change as a priority for positive community change.

In NZ and elswhere the removal of cannabis from the black market and 'criminalisation' status is long overdue. Evidence shows that liberalisation of cannabis laws does not increase use. It makes harm reduction measures possible and improves civil society (eg. the Netherlands' cannabis cafes).

The ALCP proposes a similar R18 adult control model.

Anyone who seriously agrees with legalising is invited to consider being an advocate and helping the ALCP bring the issue to the fore in this election, as it has been in former campaigns.

Provisional candidates have already been selected for nine electorates; West Coast-Tasman, North Dunedin, East Christchurch, Wigram, Christchurch Central, Waimakariri, Ohariu-Belmont, Wellington Central and Te Tai Tonga.

The party is particularly interested in hearing from Auckland advocates. The Greens have proved unwilling to prioritise the issue. With Nandor having left parliament this signals an end of an era for the Greens.

The ALCP Board may be contacted through secretary[at]alcp.org.nz
