"Is there a future for Men?"

Presented by Robin Gunston

The roles for men and women in today's Western society have been changing so quickly in recent decades, that considerable confusion now exists as to who should be doing what. Not the least, in the minds of young men.

The feminist movement and its supporters have, many years along the track, managed to topple men from their previously pre-eminent place. Female leadership is now commonly seen and accepted. There are Ministries of Women's Affairs but none anywhere for men. Meanwhile "boys" lag in schooling, seek release in car racing, tagging and gang affiliations and are generally disregarded in policy making. Soon bioscience may have no need for men in the procreation process- what then?

What kind of future society will we become?

Robin Gunston lives in Wellington where he is the past Chairperson and lead consultant of Futures Thinking Aotearoa, an adviser to Anew NZ's "imagine NZ" project, and a Director of three futures technology based SMEs. He has been the national leader of a youth movement and has worked with his wife Maureen in transforming children's lives through KidsGames. He has spoken at The World Futures Society in Washington DC, at the National Risk Management Conference in Wellington, to the Tertiary Sector IT conference and at numerous society AGMs and not-for-profit's strategic planning sessions. . He is a regular Parliamentary lobbyist on long-term social and technological issues and co-ordinates policy making for United Future NZ. Above all he is a MAN!
