The Long Walk against Climate Change –
Protest Today
Activists from the Save Happy Valley Coalition and other Environmental Organisations have protested outside the Prime Ministers constituency office today.
The protest was peaceful and intended to raise awareness about Climate Change and the threat to the unique habitat of Happy Valley by Solid Energy.
Place – Helen Clark’s Constituency Office on Sandringham Road, Auckland.
Time – 13.00 on 19th January 2007

Auckland Anniversary day, 28 Jan 2008 coincides with the 2 year anniversary day of the occupation of Happy Valley on the West Coast of the South Island. The Save Happy Valley coalition aim stop the imminent destruction of a pristine native sub alpine wetland, home to thirteen endangered species, by state owned Solid Energy for an open cast coal mine.
On this date we will take the first step in our journey from the Auckland Sky tower, set to arrive in Happy Valley in late April.
There will be a fundraising event at Forde’s front bench Political Bar at 122 Anzac Ave on Saturday the 26th of January from 7pm. There will be Live Music, DJ’s a screening of the DVD about Happy Valley and as always convivial discussion and the usual great Craic.
