AA Roadservice Workers Return To Work
The AA is pleased that the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union (EPMU) representing Roadservice officers and
vehicle inspectors has agreed that its members will suspend their strike action and return to work today.
“The decision to return to work is certainly in the best interests of both our staff and our Members,” says AA
spokesperson Simon Lambourne.
In negotiations today the union continued its demand for six weeks leave, but suggested the AA could pay an additional
2% in lieu of this every year. The union also sought a general 5% wage increase - in effect a total increase of 7%. The
AA rejected these demands and offered a wage increase of 3.8%, up from an original offer of 3.6%.
It has been agreed that talks will resume in the later part of January 2008.
“The AA continued to provide its Members with a breakdown service during the strike, assisting over 2,500 members. We
would like to thank staff and contractors who ensured we were able to keep our members moving during this period.”
“We are pleased the industrial action has been suspended for the Christmas and New Year holiday period.”
