Police have released CCTV footage of the 28-year-old Korean man who went missing after his car left the road north of Kaiwaka early on Sunday morning (December 9).
Hyung Jun Cho left Auckland late on Saturday
night to drive to his home at Ruakaka.
He did not arrive
home and when he failed to turn up at work on Monday morning
Police were alerted.
Mr Cho's car was located off the road
down a bank 2km north of Kaiwaka late on Monday
afternoon.
It was on the western side of the road about
200 metres past the end of the passing lanes.
Cellphone records show that Mr Cho was in the Kaiwaka area between 2am and 2.30am, but then his cellphone lost coverage. Police believe the vehicle accident occurred around this time.
The CCTV footage shows Mr Cho at the Caltex Service Station in Wellsford in the early hours of Sunday morning, not long before Police believe his car went off the road north of Kaiwaka.
Mr Cho is wearing a white T-shirt with
red stripes, light tan shorts and jandals.
The footage
also shows Mr Cho's white Mitsubishi Lancer at the
station.
Yesterday a team of Search and Rescue personnel searched along the road sides between Kaiwaka and the Brynderwyn Hills, but they did not find anything and Police are continuing their inquiries today into Mr Cho's disappearance.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw Mr Cho at the Caltex Service Station before 2am on Sunday or his vehicle, a white Mitsubishi Lancer, registration DME 693, driving between Wellsford and the Brynderwyn hills between the hours of 1.30am and 2.30am.
Mr Cho is described as 170cm tall or medium build with short black hair.
