The Hauraki-Waikato Maori Electorate announce the successful selection of Angeline Greensill as the candidate for this electorate. In a closely fought contest between four candidates, Angeline was selected and confirmed by the Maori Party National Council to stand in the 2008 elections.
Angeline GREENSILL, 59, Hamilton, Waikato University Lecturer, is an environmental and land rights advocate for Tainui Hapu and was the 2005 Maori Party candidate for the Tainui seat.
Selection hui were held over a two week period in Pukekohe, Hamilton, Matamata, Huntly, Manurewa, Paeroa and Raglan.
A Marae-Digipoll survey, released recently, showed the Maori Party and Labour level-pegging in this seat at 43.9% support each, making this seat “very winnable”, according to Electorate Council Co-Chair Tureiti Moxon.

Maori Party members have put their support behind Angeline Ngahina Greensill, long time land and environmental activist daughter of James and Tuaiwa (Eva) Rickard, as the candidate for the Hauraki-Waikato seat in the 2008 election.
The results of the seven hui carried out throughout the electorate over the past two weeks were released late last night after the final Maori Party selection hui in Greensill’s home town Whaingaroa Raglan.
“I acknowledge the outstanding calibre of the other worthy candidates and welcome their support to win this new electorate seat” said Greensill.
Greensill is confident that given the turmoil created by actions of the current Labour government that Maori are ready to rise up and put their support behind the Maori Party candidates in the next election.
