Two-day Summit to discuss New Zealand’s digital future

Over 500 government, business and community leaders are meeting in Auckland on 28 and 29 November to participate in a nation-wide hui on New Zealand’s digital future.

“The Digital Future Summit 2.0 is a key opportunity for all those with an interest in New Zealand’s digital future to listen and share their thoughts on the current state of our digital world and the direction for New Zealand’s digital future,” said Janet Mazenier, Programme Manager for the government’s digital strategy.

For the first time New Zealanders throughout the country can participate in some way in an event of this magnitude, no matter where they are in New Zealand.

“There is no better testament to how fast technology has developed and why this event is so important than the technologies we are using to ensure that New Zealanders through-out the country can participate,” said Janet Mazenier.

New Zealanders can get involved in the Summit by:

1. Watching the Summit live via a video webcast or attending the Summit in Second Life, and at the same time contributing to question and answer sessions via online forums. Go to www.digitalsummit.org.nz and follow the links at the bottom of the page to become part of the nation-wide audience at this event.

2. If you are in Wellington, watching the webcast at the Wellington City Council Chambers and participating in the question and answer sessions using the web forums. The council chambers will be open for the duration of the event.

3. Signing up to any or all of the seven online discussion forums. Information from the forums will be fed directly to the Summit and will allow you to participate in the question and answer sessions with expert New Zealand and international presenters.

4. Blogging on www.digitalfutureblog.org.nz.
