Navy Ship Returns From Overseas Deployment

Navy Ship Returns From Overseas Deployment

Thursday 22 November 2007

Royal New Zealand Navy Frigate HMNZS TE KAHA returns to Devonport Naval Base at 10:00am on Friday 23 November after a four month operational and exercise period in Australia and South East Asia.

TE KAHA represented New Zealand in Port Klang, Okinawa, Kure, Zhanjiang, Sasebo and Shanghai during the deployment and completed exercises with the Australian Navy.

As our largest neighbour, the scheduled exercise periods with Australia were a valuable opportunity to share operational capabilities and develop and improve the skills of both Navies.

The Commanding Officer Andy Grant (Devonport) said he and his crew of 177 men and women are looking forward to be reunited with family and friends on arrival home tomorrow morning.
