Prime Minister’s New Patsy
This is one of Labours biggest flip flops, and Annette King has been sent out to play patsy for our fair weather prime minister, says Republicans Police spokesman Bevan Berg.
That’s probably all that brought her out from behind her Police portfolio cut out, where she has been hiding since the alleged Terror Raids.
What surprises me is the attention given to David Parker’s meddling in the environment ministry, when we have the Prime Minister and the Police Minister politicising our Police Force.
After a shameful performance by Justice Goddard - eight years to produce a report into the 1999 pro Tibetan demonstrations - has she too been politicised or is she just plain incompetent. That’s another question for Annette King in the Justice Portfolio.
Let’s review the archive footage of Helen Clark after the 1999 election, as the defender of free speech and protestor’s rights, decrying the behaviour of the Police for bowing to Political Pressure from then Prime Minister Shipley to remove protesters.
Has it really been Government policy all along with out us knowing that the prime minister was misleading us?
So when the Goddard report finally surfaces, the administrative deputy commissioner has placed the real government policy in Police General Instructions, the Police Minister politely supports our Police, and the Prime Minister conveniently disappears into the ether over this one.
There is something much more dangerous developing here and that’s the responsibility of nobody. This position now becomes un-reviewed policy, lingering in Police general instructions.
“This is no place for sensitive issues, which must remain the responsibility of the Government of the day.”
What we are seeing is the airy fairy management of both Annette Kings Justice and Police portfolios, and what has come out of the opposition over this?
Is the silence from Chester Burrows an indication that John Key has already shaken hands with Helen Clark over this one as well?
