CTU Acknowledges Outgoing Minister of Labour
“Ruth Dyson has served the labour relations portfolio well and has demonstrated her commitment to protecting and enhancing workers rights in her two years in the role,” CTU president Helen Kelly said.
“She has overseen big advancements in minimum wages, extended paid parental leave, and her recent work in helping to bring together a consensus around the youth minimum wage saw the bill abolishing youth rates proceed through in to law.”
“Under Ruth Dyson there has been considerable progress in creating a new, constructive social partnership between unions, business and government focusing on common perspectives. Ruth Dyson was absolutely committed to this process.”
“We look forward to working with her in her new role of Social Development and Employment.”
The CTU has worked closely with Trevor Mallard in a number of portfolios including Economic Development, and would also look forward to continuing to work with him as Minister of Labour, Helen Kelly said.
