New Zealand Olympic Team to Wear NZ-made
October 25 2007: The New Zealand Olympic Committee in association with Kapiti-Horowhenua-based clothing consortium DesignTex announce their partnership in Wellington today.
The partnership will see New Zealand athletes wearing New Zealand-manufactured uniforms at the Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in August next year. DesignTex will also manufacture athletes’ non-competition wear.
“We’re delighted to welcome this group of exciting New Zealand clothing companies to the Olympic family,” said New Zealand Olympic Committee Secretary-General, Barry Maister. “Our athletes are always proud to wear the silver fern at any Olympic Games and next year in Beijing 2008 they will be especially proud to be wearing it on locally-made clothing.”
DesignTex will provide the New Zealand Olympic Team with performance garments designed especially to meet the hot and humid conditions athletes are likely to face in Beijing next year.
The announcement takes place as DesignTex launches
the group’s consumer brand -
Kapinua.
