Sexual Abuse Statistics Result of Sex-Saturated Culture

Family First is blaming our sex-saturated culture for the horrific rates of sex abuse, as revealed by the WHO study released yesterday.

“Since the liberalisation of all things sexual since the 60’s and 70’s, society has been paying the cost, and these figures confirm our worst fears,” says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ. “The media, entertainment industry and advertisers have pushed all the boundaries regarding sexual content and the marketing of sex. As a result, the stigma associated with inappropriate sexual activity has been weakened.”

“Governments have contributed to the outcomes through decriminalization of prostitution, abortion on demand, lax laws surrounding censorship of objectionable material, and sex education in schools that teaches how to have sex, rather than wait to have sex.”

“The BSA, ASA and Censorship Board should also hang their heads in shame as they have allowed a steady diet of sex, nudity, sexual violence, and rape into family homes via our media. Criminal activities such as rape, sexual violation of corpses, and degrading, demeaning and dehumanising treatment of women have been reduced to supposed ‘entertainment’ by films released by the Censorship Board and shown on TV programmes.”

“The liberalisation of all things sex in our culture is now manifesting itself in these statistics, and should send a clear warning that the experiment has failed, that safe sex isn’t just about condoms, and censorship is not about restricting freedom of speech – it is about protecting society and families.
