Envoys from Eritrea and Israel present Credentials

Ambassadors from Eritrea and Israel present credentials to Governor-General Anand Satyanand at Government House in Wellington tomorrow (Wednesday 3 October) at 11.30am. Also present will be the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

Dr Andeab Ghebremeskel is Eritrea’s Ambassador to New Zealand. Before taking up his posting as Ambassador he served as Director General, with responsibility for the Pacific, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea. He has also spent several years living, working, teaching and undertaking research in the United States of America. Dr Ghebremeskel lives in Australia and is cross accredited to New Zealand.

Israel’s new Ambassador is Yuval Rotem. From 1989 to 1993 Mr Rotem worked in the United Nations and in the Consulate in New York. In 1995 he worked in the office of the Foreign Minister, where he held a number of senior positions, and in 1999 he was appointed Consul-General in Los Angeles. Based in Canberra, Mr Rotem is cross accredited to New Zealand.

Mr Vuong Hai Nam is the new Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Mr Nam presented his credentials to the Governor-General last month, during a shortened special ceremony prior to the visit to New Zealand by the President of Viet Nam. This occasion will enable him to participate in the ceremonial aspects of the credentials presentation process. Mr Nam is based in Wellington.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force will provide the Guard of Honour and the Maori Ceremonial challenge.
