Grey Power are very concerned that the government has seen fit to promote an increase in electricity prices.

over recent years the price of electricity by the rapacious electricity retailers has well exceeded the cost of living index to the extent that many of our members have to make the choice of less food and clothing or saying to them selves"no , I cant turn the heater on so will have to go back to bed with a hot water bottle'" but then I will need to take a couple of pills as my back will start hurting from staying in bed to long..

While it may suit the government to ignore the cost of electricity because of the dividends and special payments made by the three state owned enterprise meridian, genesis, and mighty river power to the government coffers, we deplore the fact that their policy involves at the very least a 4% increase in the price from 2010 and thereafter

surely the comfort of the older residents and low income earners deserves more than the scat attention that is currently paid to it .

However we are supposed to seek solace in the fact that arrangements will be made some time in the future to mitigate the coos to low income earners which is a commitment we have heard before so once again we wait with bated breath .
