Auckland Airport Sale.
"Mixed messages flow from Government over the latest Auckland Airport Bid," says Republican Leader Kerry Bevin.
From the PM we have "regardless of whoever else comes along to buy" What's this, another ghost of Labour Past - 'Creeping Rogernomics.'
While the political party of our Foreign Minister is opposed to foreign ownership.
What is this Governments position on this matter and who is going to tell us?
Confused, don't miss the next episode of soap, (something odd about politics) NZ.
We have two local bodies also deciding if they should sell our shareholding in our airport. With the latest u-turn by Sir Barry Curtis I can see a protest brewing outside Manukau City Council. Why give our profits to a Canadian Pension fund.
The Republicans position is very clear says Mr Bevin,
"It is not yours to sell. This asset belongs to the people of New Zealand and the profits must be returned to NZ. If we need help or lack expertise a Republican Government through our centernomic policy of economic partnership would arrange for its management and development on behalf of the NZ people."
"New Zealand was built by people who backed themselves. Why do we continue to insult our heritage by selling all that our forefathers have left us? This is not responsible Government, and this is a platform that the Republicans will be taking to the next election," says Bevin.
