Hunger Strike Protest At Mt Eden Prison - Free The Iranian Five:
Saturday 1pm - 2pm outside Mt Eden prison, Boston Road, Auckland. (Also Friday 12noon to 1pm at 450 Queen Street, Auckland (Immigration office)). Three of the detained Iranians remain in Mt Eden prison without charge or trial.
One Amir Mohebbi has been inside for 3 ½ years now despite having a kiwi wife and three Kiwi children aged 3, 5 and 7.
Another, Ali Reza Pahan has begun a hunger strike in protest against his incarceration. Ali has been in prison for 18 months now and on Saturday will be on day 16 of his hunger strike.
Come to the protest and support these men, their friends and families.
The government wants to deport these men but it is unsafe for them to return to Iran. They are effectively kiwis in all but passport stamp. They should be released immediately by Immigration Minister David Cunliffe.
