Highlights from the lockout sites:
Kaitaia
Members were blocked by Spotless
managers from getting on Hospital shuttle bus to visit
Whangarei - but they have found a new place to get on the
bus and they will be there tomorrow!
North Shore
(AKL)
Kawakawa members visited the line and were welcomed
by Whangarei members.
Waitakere (AKL)
Hosted the
chant-off, put on a huge pile of kai for lunch and then,
while the noise grew the mebers got a visit from a Maori TV
reporter and cameraman who interviewed Bubz and Barbara from
Waitakere and Woody from North Shore.
Middlemore
(AKL)
A reporter from Tangata Pasefika Television came to
interview workers. The numbers doubled from yesterdays
picket and more than $700 was gathered in
donations.
Tauranga
Ex All Black Robin Brooke, who owns
the local New World, has sent food donations and guarantees
of %100 support to locked out workers.
Rotorua
Set up a
6 foot tall 'Spotless Clown' in the main street to get
attention for their picket - visits by IRIS and other Union
Reps. Tomorrow the members will be visited by Minister of
Community Affairs, Mark Burton along with local religous
leaders.
Gisborne
Members and their story appeared on
the front page of the Gisborne paper and will be getting a
visit tomorrow by local religous
leaders.
Wanganui
Members have been in the centre of
town gathering donations and getting support from the
public.
Hastings
Members are still out in the rain
standing strong - but getting wet.
Palmerston
Nth
Donations of food and money are pouring in from
other unions and even the local paper. Plus they have
recieved $136 in donations on the picket line from members
of the public.
Invercargill
Recieved a $2000 from the
Meat Union. Still trying to meet with hospital CEO Nigel
Murray with no luck yet. Members collected another $300 in
donations from the 'Lockout
