Falun Gong Endures Eight Years of Brutal Persecution by China's Communist Regime

July 20 marks the eighth year the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been brutally persecuting Falun Gong (Falun Dafa). An appeal to the NZ government, all kindhearted Kiwis, and the Chinese authorities to stop the persecution is to be held in Wellington on Friday.

For eight years now, Falun Gong practitioners in China have been branded as criminals, detained, tortured and killed simply for what they believe in.

The communist regime uses hundreds of different torture methods in an effort to force practitioners to renounce their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, with over 3000 deaths confirmed and many tens of thousands still missing. Reports from witnesses and an independent investigation have also revealed a horrific reality; Falun Gong practitioners are being killed and their organs harvested.

Activities to raise awareness and call for action to stop these atrocities include:

Friday 20 July 2007 – Schedule of events – All welcome
9.00am – Meditation and music - Civic Square
12.00pm - March – through Willis Street, Lambton Quay, Bowen St to Chinese Embassy.

1.00pm – 3.00pm - Rally and Anti-torture display – cage, tiger bench – outside Chinese Embassy
Guest speakers include:
 Chen Yonglin, former Chinese diplomat who defected from the Chinese Consulate-General in Sydney in 2005.
 Nick Wang, accredited journalist who has been barred from three events involving Chinese officials in New Zealand.
5.00pm – 7.00pm - Candle light vigil - Courtney Place near Taranaki Street.

One of the torture methods used by the CCP - The Cage

Being confined in a solitary compartment is one of the torture methods applied to brutally persecute practitioners. The height of the cage is shorter than a person's height. The width and length is difficult for a person, for one can neither stand straight nor lie down. Except for a small barred door, all openings are tightly sealed. No light comes in. They can be locked up this way for 120 days. They are mentally and physically tortured for refusing to renounce their belief in Falun Dafa.
