Maori Apology reaches Australia

Maori Apology reaches Australia

The fracas over Hone Harawira's comments has resulted in an apology
being made to Australian Prime Minister John Howard by Ngapuhi leader
David Rankin.

In an article published in today's Sydney Morning Herald:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/mp-insulting-maori-leader-says/2007/07/10/1183833517634.html

Mr. Rankin said that Hone Harawira had disgraced Maoridom, and that the
MP gave the impression that Ngapuhi was condoning child abuse and armed
uprising. 'Hone's comments are a disgrace', says Mr Rankin, 'and his
efforts should be aimed at problems in Northland - in his own electorate
- instead of overseas'.
