Destiny New Zealand encouraged by NZ Herald Poll results
An NZ Herald DigiPoll survey released today showed Destiny New Zealand Party polling ahead of most of Parliaments minor
parties, registering at 1.5%. The poll’s gender factor showed Destiny was largely boosted by male support, with three
per cent of men and 1 per cent of women supporting it.
Party leader Richard Lewis described the poll as encouraging. “Polling ahead of parties such as United Future and Act is
a fair achievement considering we don’t have a parliamentary platform like they do. So we’ve got to be happy to be
featuring strongly in the public consciousness 18 months out from the next election,” Lewis added.
In 2005 Destiny New Zealand campaigned on a wide range of policies including economics, welfare, education and law & order, with all of the policies based on a message of strengthening families.
“We’re well aware of the challenges involved in getting a result in 2008. Our conservative message, strong South
Auckland networks and our ability to mobilise will put us in good stead to be a major contender in the South Auckland
electorates next year,” Lewis added.
