David Bain To Receive Privy Council Decision Tonight
The David Bain appeal against his conviction for multiple murders is to be delivered by the Privy Council tonight.
The appeal for retrial was conducted in March by Auckland barrister Michael Reed QC and relates to Bain's 1995 conviction for the murder of his mother, his father and sisters Arawa and Laniet and brother Stephen.
Bain has been fighting his convictions, with the support of his long-time campaigner Joe Karam. Those in the Bain/Karam camp are believed to be confident that the appeal would succeed.
Bain was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of 16 years.
