Greens, more taxes not the answer on environment

Press Release - Direct Democracy Party:
Greens, and more taxes not the answer to New Zealand’s environmental issues:
The Green Party’s “tax at all cost” dictatorial environmental policies will do nothing to deal with the very real environmental issues confronting New Zealand, says Direct Democracy Party leader Kelvyn Alp.
“Real solutions include not only identifying what actually constitutes sustainable energy development; real solutions also include putting right the environmental mess that has been created under previous Governments of all political persuasions. Fundamentally, this means cleaning up our waterways, minimising environmental toxins, and overhauling the Resource Management Act in true public participation with the public via Binding Referendum on these issues.
There is much that those who work and operate within the environment could teach politicians about sustainable development, yet no one is asking them. For example, what would the will of the New Zealand people be on issues such as GE-free crops, bio-fuel, waste management, energy generation / supply, investment in infrastructure, and New Zealand’s ratification of various international agreements, such as the Kyoto Protocol?
“Glorified guesswork, selective junk science citation, and ideological chest thumping as that displayed by the Green Party will do little to include the average New Zealander and future generations of New Zealanders in finding solutions to these extremely serious issues” says Mr Alp.
