Plunket has been providing new parents with guidance, advice and support for 100 years.
From May 2007, Plunket will be celebrating their Centenary Year and Random House are joining the celebrations by publishing three Plunket books, starting with thriving under 5 in April.
This book of indispensable advice from New Zealand’s acknowledged experts on childcare is given to every mother of a new baby receiving Plunket services.
Previously produced in magazine/pamphlet form, this is the fi rst time thriving under 5 has been produced as a book and sold in the trade. It is a valuable guide for relatives, friends and caregivers, and is ideal for sending to new mothers overseas.
thriving under 5
Having a new baby and raising children brings great changes to your life, and therefore many questions and decisions.
thriving under 5 has been written to provide you with a quick reference for common questions about children. We hope this information will be helpful for you as parents, whanau and caregivers in making informed decisions that best suit your and your child’s needs.
Caring for children is one of the most important and rewarding things you can do. You may experience strong feelings and a range of emotions as you watch your child grow and develop. Enjoy and have fun with your child.
thriving under 5 is divided into sections, starting with a section on family/whanau then moving onto age group sections from birth to 5 years, plus sections on safety and care for unwell children. The information given here is the most up-to-date and relevant available for 2007. (As ideas change and knowledge grows, some of this may become out of date).
Please feel free to contact Plunket staff, other well child health providers, other health professionals, community groups and your local library, if you would like more information on the topics covered in this book or you have any questions about your child’s health.
