Ministry of Justice and Gen-I Sign IT and Telco Contract

The Ministry of Justice and Gen-i today announced that they have signed contracts for the supply of telecommunications services and also for supply of information technology support services.

The contract-signing follows the Ministry of Justice’s announcement in November last year that it selected Gen-i as the preferred supplier for two parallel tenders started in December 2005 to select suppliers of telecommunications services and of information technology support services for five years from July 2007.

The contract was signed by Ministry of Justice Chief Executive Belinda Clark and Telecom Chief Executive Theresa Gattung.

“The Ministry currently has over a dozen telecommunications and information technology services suppliers, a legacy from the merger of the former Ministry of Justice and the former Department of Courts in 2003,” says Ministry of Justice Chief Executive Belinda Clark.

“We were looking for proven ability to manage our existing services and also be capable of supporting our future technology needs. We would also like to thank the unsuccessful providers who participated in what was a very competitive tender process.

“Gen-i clearly demonstrated they are able to do this and presented the best proposal for each tender in a very competitive tender process. We expect this new partnership with Gen-i will, over time, help the Ministry deliver better and more efficient services to the public and other agencies we work with.”

Telecom Chief Executive Theresa Gattung says she’s delighted the Ministry has chosen Gen-i.
“Our Gen-i team worked incredibly hard to understand the Ministry’s telecommunications and IT needs and identify the best possible solutions for them.

“We’re looking forward to working with the Ministry on implementing these solutions and jointly shaping their technology direction for the future,” she said.

The Ministry expects to complete the transition to Gen-i by June 2007.
