New chief executive for Consumers’ Institute
Sue Chetwin is to replace David Russell as Consumers’ Institute’s chief executive.
Ms Chetwin has a very strong background in publishing. She is currently editorial business manager for NZ Magazines, publisher of a number of popular magazines including the Listener and the Woman’s Weekly. She is the past editor of the Sunday Star Times and the Herald on Sunday.
Consumers’ Institute chairman, Mark Bedford, acknowledged that David Russell’s stewardship of the Institute would be a hard act to follow but he was sure Ms Chetwin was up to the demanding task.
“The role of Consumer is as important today as it ever was,” said Mr Bedford. “The way we deliver our message is changing and that is evident as consumer.org.nz grows. However, there will always be a place for our flagship magazine Consumer. Sue’s talents as an editor, manager and web developer are an excellent mix for the job.”
Sue Chetwin will take up the position in mid April.
