Not only do we have Working For Families encouraging thousands of women out of the workforce, particularly from part-time jobs - now we find out Work and Income is telling workers they would be better off on a benefit.
According to Lindsay Mitchell, welfare commentator, "This is no surprise to me. Only recently I was told by a mother of a son turning 18 about to lose his family support payment that, because he was only working part-time due to being on a course, and unable to pay her the equivalent in board, he would be better off going on the unemployment benefit. What kind of message is this?"
"The mother was horrified and her son rejected the idea. Together they had more integrity and foresight than the Work and Income case manager."
"It is to be hoped that when Parliament resumes tomorrow questions will be asked about what this Labour regime is doing to workers and employers with their hand-out mentality."
