Navy Fleet On Parade


On his first visit to the Naval Base, His Excellency the Honourable Anand Satyanand, the Governor General of New Zealand will review Fleet Divisions for all Navy ships and force elements at1030on Friday19January 2007.

Accompanied by the Navy Band and a 100 man Guard, up to 700 naval personnel from 11 ships and operational units will parade at the Ngataringa Bay Sports Complex, off Jim Titchener Drive, Devonport. Two Seasprite Helicopters will conduct a flypast over the parade at 1045.

Prior to the parade, His Excellency will be welcomed with a formal powhiri at the Navy Marae.

Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral David Ledson, Commander Joint Forces New Zealand, Rear Admiral Jack Steer, as well as the Deputy Chief of Navy and Maritime Component Commander will also be in attendance.

Awards to be presented at the parade include Chief of Navy commendations and the following trophies:

a. Chatham Rose Bowl for the most efficient unit overall,
b. Monowai Trophy for Operational Excellence, and
c. CDR W.L.J. Smith Trophy for Support Force Excellence.
