Campbell Live Goes to Court
TV3 confirms it applied yesterday to the High Court to rescind the injunction on the Don Brash emails.
The application was made on behalf of the Campbell Live programme.
Executive Producer Carol Hirschfeld said there are several important aspects to the application.
“Firstly, our advice is the court didn’t take sufficient account of the public interest in the matter, and also we
believe the orders constitute an unreasonable restriction on freedom of expression,” said Ms Hirschfeld.
“Another key point in our application is that Don Brash has known for some time these emails have been in the public
domain, and has delayed acting until now.”
“We believe these emails are in the public interest, and we have a duty to tell New Zealanders about them. If that
requires strident legal action, so be it,” said Ms Hirschfeld.
