Maxim Institute Celebrates Fifth Birthday

Today Maxim Institute celebrates five years of contributing to the public policy and cultural debate in New Zealand and looks forward to many more.

CEO Greg Fleming says “five years ago we were fired to start Maxim Institute with a vision for seeing justice, freedom and compassionate flourish in New Zealand. Our approach and strategy have matured and clarified along the way and we are committed to the vision for the long-term.”

“Maxim Institute was one of only a few think tanks in New Zealand when it was first formed in 2001. Think tanks play a vital role in a democracy, providing an independent voice in the public policy debate; it is pleasing to see the growth in this vibrant sector in New Zealand.”

Maxim Institute has had an eventful first five years. Major highlights include the 2005 election project, NZ Votes, which helped New Zealanders cast a more informed vote, and our series of education research and policy reports, The Parent Factor. Both projects earned international acclaim among the think tank community.

“As an established stakeholder in New Zealand’s public policy debate, Maxim Institute is privileged to be able to resource policy-makers with research and expert legal and policy analysis on a vast array of issues,” says Greg Fleming.

“Maxim Institute is currently undertaking further research into schooling in New Zealand and fatherhood, and is also completing projects on taxation and electoral representation. We are particularly excited about our work in the area of social justice and the contribution this will make to strengthening New Zealand’s communities,” Fleming says.

“We were delighted to launch our new website, complete with a new brand, just last week. The fresh face of Maxim Institute reflects our renewed vision and energy for the next phase of the journey,” says Greg Fleming.

Maxim Institute is an independent research and pubic policy think tank, funded through the generous donations of individuals and trusts who share the vision of seeing justice, freedom and compassion flourish in New Zealand.
