Prisoner transportation - inaccurate report

Published: Thu 26 Oct 2006 09:44 AM
The Department of Corrections will be lodging a formal complaint about an item carried on One News tonight.
Corrections General Manager Strategic Services Mike Martelli said the Department considered the item was inaccurate in several material respects and failed to provide appropriate context.
“In particular, it implied an incident involving an altercation between two seventeen year olds travelling in the youth compartment of a prison van had involved an assault by an adult on a youngster,” he said.
“This is incorrect, and the incident was minor and resulted in no charges against either prisoner.”
