Road ahead for ORNZ looks great!

MEDIA RELEASE Outdoor Recreation NZ
11 September 2006

'Road ahead for ORNZ looks great!'

"The Outdoor Recreation New Zealand Party’s sponsored ‘Outdoor Recreation Conference’ has been a huge and resounding success", said party chairman Mr. Phil Hoare.

"Delegates who attended Saturday’s conference were some of the most informed people in the country when it came to the issues facing user’s of the Department of Conservation administered ‘Public Estate’. The high quality of information and ideas that came from in-depth and robust discussion during the conference will now be used by the party to formulate and develop a series of new outdoor related policy. In some areas that will be to broaden and strengthen existing party policies", he said.

Delegates representing a large cross section of the countries outdoor pursuits, such as Surfing, Hunting, Hang Gliding, Fishing, Mountaineering, Four Wheel Driving etc attended the one day ‘Outdoor Recreation Users’ conference, which was held at the ‘Jet Inn Hotel’ near the Auckland Airport.

The Outdoor Recreation Party had planned this weekends conference some months ago, as a direct result of positive feed back received after a similar conference organised by the party held at Nelson in April 2004.

It will also serve as a useful platform for delegates attending the Department of Conservation / SPARC sponsored conference which is being held in Wellington next weekend.
