Singapore Honours Former NZDF Chief

Singapore has honoured New Zealand’s recently retired Chief of Defence with its highest military award.

Air Marshal (rtd) Bruce Ferguson has been awarded the Distinguished Service Order (military) by Singaporean President S.R Nathan.

Air Marshal Ferguson’s family also attended yesterday’s ceremony in Istana, Singapore.

The award recognises Air Marshal Ferguson’s contribution in forging excellent defence ties between the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

The citation reads:

“With Air Marshal Ferguson’s commitment and guidance, professional interactions between the two armed forces have grown in scope and depth. The NZDF and SAF engage in a broad spectrum of bilateral and multilateral activities, including military exercises under the Five Power Defence Arrangements, and professional exchange programmes.”
