Time for a Clean Out
Time for a Clean Out
It’s time for a clean out in Television New Zealand says Kerry Bevin, Political Leader of the Republic of New Zealand Party.
The spectacle of already highly paid presenters arguing for yet more money from the public purse has been disgusting said Mr Bevin. “Who do these media big heads think they are?”
He said it was ironic that they don’t want their salaries made public yet they are accountable to the tax payers who fund them. “It’s time for the star culture to go. It serves no useful purpose here.”
Mr Bevin said a Republican government would regard TVNZ as a national asset definitely not for sale, and would revamp the Network to provide balance between service and profitability
“Our objective is to create a communications infrastructure that is functional, effective and without frills.”
Mr Bevin said presenters and managers who believe they are media stars and want Hollywood salaries should try their luck on the international media market or in private enterprise.
“We wish them all the best and hope they make millions but there is no place here for them in a public service.”
