NZ Relief Worker on her way to Pakistan
Kiwi aid worker, Judy Moore, who is something of a legend when it comes to relief work in disaster situations, is flying into Islamabad tonight.
Ms Moore's title will be Relief Manager, and she comes fresh from overseeing World Vision's tsunami relief operations in India. 18 months ago she was directing the clean up in Bam after a huge earthquake on Boxing Day 2003 levelled the Iranian city. After Bam, she worked in Iraq until World Vision was forced to withdraw because of increasing insecurity.
Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Rwanda, Sudan, Cambodia, are other countries Ms Moore has worked in during her 20 year career with World Vision.
"She has a formidable reputation for getting things done," says World Vision New Zealand CEO Helen Green, "So much so that she's permanently on our international Relief Team ready to go wherever she's needed."
World Vision is accepting donations on 0800 80 2000, or through the website: www.worldvision.org.nz
