Caritas NZ
responds with $10,000 for Pakistan/India
Earthquake
Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand, the Catholic
agency for justice, peace and development is accepting
donations to assist the victims of the recent earthquake
which has devastated regions in northern Pakistan and India.
The agency has also committed $10,000 of its own emergency
funds for an initial immediate response.
The quake, which measured 7.6 on the Richter scale has seen the death toll rise to around 30,000 and homes and buildings in the region reduced to rubble, particularly in worst-hit Pakistan.
Caritas Director, Mike Smith said, “The earthquake has caused utter devastation, destroying families and communities. It is vitally important that those who have survived and are now without homes, food and shelter are properly taken care of.”
Donations from New Zealanders will go to our partners, Caritas India and Caritas Pakistan who are already working on the ground in the affected regions delivering emergency relief, shelter and medical supplies to those most in need.
New Zealanders who wish to donate to the Caritas Pakistan/India Earthquake Appeal can do so in the following ways: Visit www.caritas.org.nz to make an online donation, or call 0900 4 11 11 to make an automatic $20 donation or post their donation to:
