NZDF Personnel Deploy to the Republic of Korea
The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) is strengthening its commitment to security in Korea, with the deployment of two
Officers.
Lieutenant Malcolm Hurly (Army) and Flying Officer Dan Able (Air Force) depart New Zealand on Thursday 29 September for
six months.
Their departure lifts the number of NZDF personnel deployed to the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission
(UNCMAC) in Korea to three.
The NZDF currently has one officer serving with UNCMAC as the Assistant Operations Officer.
UNCMAC was created to supervise the Armistice Agreement of 1953, and is responsible for supervising the access and
security of the Demilitarised Zone in Korea.
