Helping
Those in Need After Hurricane Katrina
Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand is accepting donations to help those in need following the onslaught of Hurricane Katrina, which has been declared the United States’ worst natural disaster in over a century.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people along the Gulf Coast affected by Hurricane Katrina, and to those who are working to bring relief,” said Mike Smith, Caritas Director.
“The images on our television screens and in the newspapers show that even in developed countries with infrastructure, emergency personnel and military assistance, the task of responding when a disaster strikes is huge.”
Donations from New Zealand donors will be sent to Caritas partner Catholic Charities USA who has teams working around the clock delivering relief supplies such as food, water and medicine, to thousands of hurricane victims along the Gulf Coast regardless of faith or ethnicity.
New Zealanders who wish to donate to the Caritas Hurricane Katrina Appeal can do so in the following ways: Visit www.caritas.org.nz to make an online donation, or call 0900 4 11 11 to make an automatic $20 donation or post their donation to:
