RESPONSE TO MARAE DIGIPOLL SURVEY RESULTS

Hone Harawira says the recent Marae-Digipoll Survey Results that puts him 16 percent ahead of others in the run for the Tai Tokerau seat is a positive result.

"The team has put a lot of energy into building a strong base of Party support over the past month," he says. "This is a very positive result for everyone."

"We expected a slump in support around the time the Labour Party machine kicked into gear: Dover's high profile caravan is now set up and stalking communities, he's using his office budget to get glossy tabloids sent to every house in Tai Tokerau, and he's working full time on his campaign," he goes on.

"The Maori Party will continue with its approach - we have no money, but we do have passionate members, who don't want another term of broken promises from Government.

"We are part time campaigners - which should give Labour a stronger lead," says Mr Harawira.

He says locals are so surprised at the flood of Ministerial visits to boost Dover's campaign, that the small Far North town has been dubbed "Kaitaia Little Government".

"This is the first time a lot of Far North constituents have heard of or seen the Labour Party camp since Dover won the last election," says Mr Harawira.

"The Tai Tokerau campaign will not be run on bribes, empty promises or last minute goodwill visits.

"It will remain driven by principles of Kotahitanga (unity), manaakitanga (caring for each other), whanaungatanga (building relationships), wairuatanga (binding all principles with our spirituality)," he says.
