London Bombings: MFAT Update 9 At 1045 8 July
London Bombings: MFAT Update 9 At 1045 8 July 2005
The High Commission has now visited the three hospitals which received the largest number of casualties. While there is still no indication of New Zealand casualties, the process of checking patient lists and nationalities is still in train. The High Commission expects that it will take some time to establish this information through the casualty services bureau.
Red Cross Call Centre reports a steady stream of calls from both within and without NZ. Callers from inside NZ are getting through; those from outside may experience a delay. The Red Cross is working on improving the take-up on calls from overseas.
A reminder: The New Zealand High Commission will maintain its call centre throughout its night (i.e. today) but media calls, please, should be directed here. We shall provide updates throughout today as we receive information from the High Commission.
If for any reason, it is necessary to call the High Commission, the only number that should be used now is +44 208 7930 8422. In New Zealand, please call the Red Cross on 0800 733 276. Callers from overseas to the Red Cross should dial +64 4 495 8111.
