London Bombings: MFAT Update 8 At 0930 8 July 2005
High Commission staff have visited a number of hospitals and are working their way round others. There are still no/no reports of New Zealanders being injured.
The New Zealand High Commission will maintain its call centre throughout its night (i.e. today) but media calls, please, should be directed here. We shall provide updates throughout today as we receive information from the High Commission.
There are been several hundred calls to the MFAT call centre overnight and now to the Red Cross call centre. It would be really helpful if people who previously called in because they have been unable to contact relatives - but have since made that link - telephone back to the Red Cross on 0800 733 276 when contact has been established with their friend or relative.
This will allow us to eliminate these persons from further enquiry and concentrate on other cases.
