Dinner Tickets selling like Hot Cakes

18 May 2005

MAORI PARTY

PRESS RELEASE

Hikurangi Ward – Whangarei Branch

Dinner Tickets selling like Hot Cakes

Tickets to dinner this Friday with Hone Harawira, te Tai Tokerau candidate for the Maori Party, have barely hit the streets and are selling like hot cakes.

The 10-dollar tickets went on sale last night. One third of the 50 tickets have been sold before they hit the streets today.

Hone Harawira, the Tai Tokerau seat forerunner, accepted the invitation from the Hikurangi Ward membership to mix and mingle with supporters at the Hikurangi Bistro.

Local organiser, Olive Waipouri says she’s delighted Mr Harawira found a gap in his schedule of the Transient By Nature Speaking Tour to come to Hikurangi.

“It’s great to bring him home,” she says. “Mr Harawira has roots in Whakapara and Ngararatunua, and has family still living in the Hikurangi Ward.”

“The dinner will give his supporters a chance to catch up with the latest news in the Maori Party,” says Mrs Waipouri.

“It is an opportunity for Mr Harawira to hear what issues are close to people’s hearts here in Hikurangi. To give him a grounding of what’s important to us here.

“Our organising team are grateful for the time we have to spend with him.”
