Mr Prebble’s atrocious sinful behaviour - a different standard for Christians?
The liberal bias of the media was evident in its response to the news of Richard Prebble’s adulterous relationship and his desertion of his wife. The Bible condemns adultery as it does child molestation and homosexuality, but the media, while quick to print the facts about Prebble’s fall, left one word out of their “news” items. That word is hypocrisy. Prebble broke wedding vows he made before God and so by his adultery demonstrates that he is a hypocrite.
How quick the media were to play over and over again statements by Graham Capill, who had recently been convicted of child molestation, but we search the pages of the media in vain to find any judgement on Mr Prebble’s atrocious sinful behaviour. Similarly the homosexual websites, who gleefully ran screeds of hateful comments aimed at Capill and Christianity generally, are strangely silent. I wonder why?
The Christians were not silent when it came to expressing their dismay over the Capill affair, but the liberal media will not be dragging out old archives of Richard Prebble saying what an important institution marriage is and how important stable families are to society. Why will they not be throwing mud at Prebble?
Quite simply they share his values – they wallow in the same mud. Promiscuity and adultery are considered ok by homosexuals, most members of parliament, and the bulk of the media in this country. Nonetheless, we offer the same advice to Mr Prebble as we did to Mr Capill. God will forgive if you repent and come to God seeking the saving blood of Jesus Christ, and He will surely forgive your sins.
Many Christians in the early church had come from adulterous and homosexual lifestyles (1 Cor. 6:9), and found forgiveness in Christ. That forgiveness is still available.
