Aged Care Summit - Politicians To Front-Up and Explain Themselves.

An aged care policy summit will be held on Wednesday morning, May 4, between 9 and 12:30 in the Civic Suite of Civic Centre in Wellington.

The summit is titled, ‘“The next government - what does the future hold for our elderly?”, and seeks to hear first hand what each party proposes to do if they are in the next government. In order to answer the question each party will need to say:

This policy summit is being organised by HealthCare Providers New Zealand and the New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services. It is supported by Grey Power, Presbyterian Support Central, NZNO and the Salvation Army.

“The meeting is open to the public and I hope they take this opportunity to hear first hand what each party promises to do for our elderly if they were in the next government”, says Martin Taylor CEO of HealthCare Providers NZ.

HealthCare Providers NZ (HCPNZ) was launched on March 10 2005, to represent the aged care sector (residential care facilities and private geriatric hospitals) and private surgical hospitals. It represents around 75 per cent of residential care facilities and private geriatric hospitals, and the vast majority of private surgical hospitals. It was established as a result of Residential Care NZ and the NZ Private Hospitals Association joining operations.

The New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services (NZCCSS) represents the social services of the Anglican, Baptist, Catholic and Presbyterian Churches as well as the Methodist Church and the Salvation Army. Collectively, our members have around 550 social service delivery sites across the country.
