Christian Heritage NZ Announces Key Policies

Christian Heritage NZ has publicly released its key “ABC” policies for the 2005 election. Speaking to a 500 strong church audience in east Auckland, CHNZ leader Ewen McQueen unveiled the party’s 10-point plans to Affirm Marriage, Build Families and Celebrate Life as God’s precious gift. The overall ABC policy package involves thirty specific initiatives that CHNZ will seek to implement, either as part of a confidence and supply agreement, or as members bills.

A pamphlet detailing the Key Policies has been sent to all party members and a wider group of stakeholders throughout New Zealand this week.

In unveiling the CHNZ 10-point plans Ewen McQueen noted that real need in
New Zealand was not just legislative or policy change, but rather cultural change.
He said

“We are not going to change New Zealand simply by changing a few laws. We need to renew our culture, and that is a long term process that will require a lot of incremental steps. That is why we are offering a number of different policy initiatives. Each one is a way of sending a message into our culture that marriage matters, that strong family life is vitally important and that the sanctity of human life must be respected. If public policy keeps reinforcing that message then I have no doubt that over time we will begin to see change for the better.”
