Democrats Select Whanganui Candidate
The Wanganui Democrats today selected retired teacher Malcom Murchie of Waikanae as their electorate candidate for this year’s general election.
A passionate environmentalist and experienced social credit campaigner, Mr Murchie was selected at a special meeting following the regional conference and annual general meeting held in Wanganui.
“I welcome the opportunity to put the case for social credit in this electorate” said Mr Murchie. “I believe that Democrat policies would deliver the economic regeneration needed in Wanganui itself and that dramatic improvements would be seen in the wider electorate”.
Mr Murchie noted that he had lived in the electorate for most of his life.
“My strong community links give me a clear understanding of the issues here” he said.
Democrats for Social Credit Leader, Stephnie de Ruyter, said that she was delighted that Mr Murchie had been selected.
“Malcom’s commitment and enthusiasm will ensure a lively campaign and vigorous debate in this electorate.”
