Ramifications of Metals collapse
A media conference will be held in Auckland on at 10.30am on Sunday to outline the ramifications of the break-down in the Metals agreement negotiations.
The EPMU, which represents the 2000 workers covered by the document, has held talks today with the two other major private-sector unions, the NDU and the SFWU. The CTU’s affiliates’ council was briefed yesterday, and the Minister of Labour has been informed.
The Metals and Manufacturing Industries Collective Agreement influences wages and conditions across the private sector. Negotiations between the EPMU and the EMA (Northern) began in Auckland on Tuesday but broke down yesterday.
Council of Trade Unions president Ross Wilson will attend the media conference.
