Cherie Blair an Unwelcome Visitor

Cherie Blair an Unwelcome Visitor

It is appalling that Starship Children’s Hospital has chosen Cherie Blair to help raise funds to support New Zealand children in ill health.

Cherie Blair has been a public cheerleader for Britain’s military invasion of Iraq and the previous 12 years of US/UK led sanctions.

According to United Nations officials and independent reports those sanctions led directly to the death of more that half a million Iraqi babies and children.

So why on earth would a person who has been a cheerleader for infanticide-linked policies be welcomed to New Zealand to support our children’s hospital?

The health of New Zealand children is an issue of public policy – not private charity. If the management of Starship Children’s Hospital doesn’t have the courage or integrity to demand adequate funding from the government (which has a $6.5billion budget surplus) they should resign.

GPJA supports the protest at the fundraiser organised by Citizens Against Privatisation.
