National selects Dunne challenger

The National Party last night selected Katrina Shanks as its challenger to Peter Dunne in Ohariu-Belmont for next year’s election campaign.

Katrina Shanks is a self-employed accountant. She has previously worked as a Project Accountant for the Westpac Banking Corporation, in Retail Client Services for Newton Investment Management in the United Kingdom and as a Senior Auditor for Audit New Zealand.

“I’m delighted Katrina has been selected as the National candidate for Ohariu- Belmont. She has the credentials and the experience to provide strong representation for the Ohariu-Belmont community,” National’s local electorate chair Tony Heyward says.

“We certainly don’t think Peter Dunne is untouchable and we have no doubt the area would benefit greatly from an MP who is inside the next Government rather than watching from the fringes.

“Ohariu-Belmont should be a natural National seat. With Katrina selected as our candidate, our focus is now on winning the seat and securing a strong Party Vote for National,” Mr Heyward says.
